"My first memory of working behind the lens was at 6 years old. My great aunt and her husband used to drive out from Arizona to visit family and such. She wasn't a friendly lady, so she would pass me the point and shoot and let me take pictures. Everyone would smile for little Ali, wouldn't they? And that's how it began. Five years later I asked my mother for a camera of my own. I suppose you could say that my style developed right then and there. I always leaned towards taking pictures of people. I felt the need to document the people of this world-never thinking about the impermanence of life, but just knowing that for some reason they would need to be remembered."
